The Battery student Maddie Reese, a senior infielder at Pittsford-Mendon High School, signed on November 15 a Letter of Intent to play softball at the University of Arkansas.
Maddie, a scholar-athlete who holds a 3.75 GPA, started playing varsity softball as an 8th grader; she has taken private lessons with Coach Fred Tillinghast for several years.
She played locally for the Pittsford Cyclones and the 16U Lighting Elite. For the last two years, she has been a member of the 18U TC Tremors Gold out of Binghamton and has played across the country: NY, NJ, NC, CT, PA, FL, CO, OK and VA.
During her high school career, she has received a number of awards: Division III Co-Player of the Year, twice selected to the All Greater Rochester Team, team MVP, First Team All State and Section V champion.
At the University of Arkansas, a member of a premier athletic conference, Maddie plans to major in Kinesiology with a possible minor in Biomechanics.
Ms. Reese is the fourth Battery softball student to sign with a division 1 school in 2010.
