The Battery

The Battery is Rochester's first indoor baseball and softball training facility in Western New York.


In addition to our regular instructional programs, we provide individuals and teams with a facility where they can practice their hitting and defensive skills.


Individual pitching, catching, fielding and hitting lessons start right after Labor Day.  Call to reserve your spot for the season.


The Battery is open to the public on Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On February 21st and 22nd, 2015 we welcomed students to our  Spring Academies




On October 25th, 2014, The Battery welcomed students to its 29th Winter Baseball Academy!



News & Events


Registration Open for Summer Camps


The LL camps, ages 8-12, will be held the weeks of July 6th and week of July 13th at the Bishop Kearney High Scholl fields. For more information and to register, check Programs.

The softball camp, ages 12u, 14u and 16u, will be held on July 20-23 at the Bishop Kearney field.

Space is limited for all three camps.


Battery students have a great week offensively!

During the week of April 13th, several students had a perfect day offensively:

* Ariel Asito went 3 for 3 and slugged a stand up triple to help power Webster.

* Emily Mongelli went 4 for 4, with a double, a triple and six RBI for Irondequoit.

* Matt DeRoller went 3 for 3 in two games for Bishop Kearney.

* Sam Maniocci went 4 for 4 for Greece Odyssey.

* Brooke Wolfe went 4 for 4 with a grand slam for Brighton.

Battery Student Shines at 2015 Season Opener

Battery student Brittany Grage (Pittsford Mendon), a senior at the University of Rochester, led her alma mater to their first win of the season against Bethany College in Florida. She went 5-5, with two home runs and four RBI. The following day, Britt went 3-4 with two doubles.

Britt has been training year round at The Battery since middle school, and took two hitting lessons with Coach Fred this past week before flying to Florida.

Battery Alum Named "Cyclone of the Day"

Battery alum Maddie Reese (Pittsford Mendon), a senior at Iowa State was named on February 7 Cyclone of the Day after she went 3-5, with two home runs and five RBI in a game against South Dakota State.  Good job, Maddie!


Battery Student Named Scholar Athlete of the Week

Battery student Hannah Anderson, a senior at Caledonia Mumford HS, has been named by Ch 10 Scholar Athlete for the week of Jan 26.

Hannah has had a remarkable high school career and won a number of awards. Not only she excels on the field and was named to the elite  All Greater Rochester Softball Team, but is an excellent student who carries a 96.8 GPA..



Battery Student Signs Letter of Intent

Battery student  Leighann Pettis, a senior pitcher at Churchville Chili High School, signed a letter of intent to play collegiate softball. She will attend Seton Hill University, a Catholic  liberal arts university in Greensburg, a suburb of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Leighann plans on majoring in exercise science. Battery Students Named to All Greater Rochester Softball Team


Congratulations to the eight Battery students named to the 16-player AGR 2014 team.

Hannah Anderson (Caledonia Mumford),  Morgan Boyce (Greece Arcadia), Leah Crocket (Pnefiled), Aidan Falk (Mercy), Kelsey Johnson (Mercy), Becky Knorr (Greece Arcadia), Anna Merante (Pittsford Mendon) and Leighann Pettis (Churchville Chili).

Aidan Falk was also named the AGR Player of the Year.

The following Battery students received Honorable Mention:

Battery Alum Throws a PERFECT game!

Battery alum Brittany Grage (Pittsford Mendon) threw a perfect game for the University of Rochester during the Liberty League playoffs on May 3rd. It was the first ever perfect game in the school's history. Nina Korn, another Battery alum, hit her 11th homerun of the season for the Yellow Jackets.






Battery Student Throws a PERFECT Game!

Battery student Leighann Pettis, a junior at Churchville Chili, threw her first perfect game of the 2014 season. There are many no hitters and shutouts in a season but seldom a perfect game.

A perfect game is the dream of every pitcher. Leighann threw her first perfect game when she was a 7th grader!

Leighann is a member of the Battery Lighting Gold team and trains year round.

Battery's Jake Welch Named Pitcher of the Week


Battery alum Jake Welch (Spencerport HS), a junior at Notre Dame College, was named Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week (March 30). Jake has four wins this season and tossed his second complete game shutout.

Andy Parrino's Battery Xmas Baseball Camp

Oakland A's Andy Parrino, a Battery alum and instructor,  ran two all skills baseball camps on Thursday, December 26th, 2013  at The Battery for baseball players who wanted to improve their skills in the areas of hitting, fielding and throwing.

Attendees were delighted to have a major leaguer coaching them and enjoyed every minute of the Xmas camp experience. Andy also signed autographs and posed with the students.

Thanks Andy for providing such a wonderful Xmas break experience to the attendees!

Battery Student NYS Class A Player of the Year

Courtney  CaseCongrats to Courtney Case being named NYS Class A Player of the Year. Courtney has trained year round at The Battery since 7th grade. She is a great student, player, and person. Battery Pitching Instructor Inducted into Hall of Fame 

Battery pitching instructor  Courtney Fitzgerald Cardot was inducted on June 11 into the St. John University Athletics Hall of Fame.  She is the winningest pitcher in school history (59) and holds a program record for appearances (102). Congratulations!

Alum Featured in The Naples Record

The Naples Record, a weekly newspaper covering the Finger lakes region, featured an article about Line Drive Baseball School, owned and operated by Battery alum Nick Carrier (Bishop Kearney/Brockport) in the town of Hemlock.  Nick trained at the Battery tor many years under Coach T and also played in the Battery ABC team managed by Coach.

In the long and very detailed article, Nick credits Coach T and the influence he had on him.  "Coach T made me the man I am today. He taught me more than just baseball."

Battery's Courtney  Case Signs Letter of Intent 

Battery student Courtney Case, a senior shortstop at Pittsford Mendon HS,  signed a letter of intent to play softball at Le Moyne College.

Battery Students Sign Letters of Intent

The following six Battery students are signing letters of intent to play softball at the collegiate level :

* Lacey Clark (Victor HS) is signing with Hofstra University of the Colonial Athletic Conference.

* Mackenzie Cleary (Fairport HS) is signing with St. John University of the Big East Conference and joining Battery alum Courtney Budynas who is now a freshman.

*Sam Broking (Fairport HS) is signing with the University at Albany of the America East Conference.

* Desiree Gonzalez (Greece Arcadia HS) is signing with St. Bonaventure of the Atlantic 10 Conference.

* Kiera Lorenzo (Brighton HS) will join Desiree by signing with St. Bonaventure.

* Ali Van Geisen (Auburn HS) is signing with Niagara University of the MAAC Conference and  joining Battery alum Desirae Maldonado who is now a sophomore. Ali also took private pitching lessons with Battery coach Courtney Fitzgerald Cardot.

Kudos to all these ladies for their hard work and perseverance. The  Battery is very proud of each and every one!

The Battery turned 30!

On March 2nd, 2013 The Battery marked its 30th anniversary of training champions. As a small family owned and run business, we are proud to have contributed to make reality the dreams of thousands of young people.

We are proud of the Battery students who through the years have signed with Division 1 colleges and universities; proud of those who signed professional contracts , and proud to have  a Battery-trained student in the major leagues.

We are proud of the lives we have touched and the friends we have made.
