The Battery is Rochester’s first indoor baseball and softball training facility in Western New York.
It was founded in 1983 to provide a much needed indoor training facility to area baseball and softball fans. Since then, thousands of young people have attended our successful programs and taken their game to the next level.
Many of our students have excelled on their little league, travel, and high school teams. Many others have been awarded college scholarships and several have signed professional contracts, including Casey Saucke (Baltimore Orioles), Andy Parrino (San Diego Padres), Ricky Guarno (Colorado Rockies), and Matt Tone (Minnesota Twins).
Our mission is to develop serious players, regardless of age or skill level, to maximize their potential in the game of baseball or softball… and ultimately teaching skills that transfer over to success in life.
The strength of the Battery has always been its staff. We believe that if you are going to offer quality baseball and softball instruction, you must hire qualified and experienced coaches. We invite comparisons. The Battery takes great pride in providing the best in professional hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching instruction. Every Battery instructor is a competent professional who has played/coached at the collegiate or professional level.
We provide a diverse array of little league and high school camps, ranging from specialized camps that focus on a single aspect of the game to our popular all-skills academies that can help a player become more well rounded. We also offer individual lessons and team training.
In addition to the Battery’s instructional programs, we provide individuals and teams with a facility where they can practice their hitting and defensive skills. Coaches can bring in their team to practice or have the professionals at The Battery run the practice for you.
The Battery is conveniently located off of interstate 490 in the town of Gates, the geographical center of Monroe County, and just minutes from the city of Rochester and neighboring towns.
The Battery is owned and operated by the Tillinghast family at 1520 Spencerport Road, corner of Spencerport Road (Rt 31) and Elmgrove Road, in the lower level of the Gates Big M Market.
