The Battery
The Battery is Rochester's first indoor baseball and softball training facility in Western New York.
In addition to our regular instructional programs, we provide individuals and teams with a facility where they can practice their hitting and defensive skills.
The Battery is open to the public on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Individual pitching, catching, fielding and hitting lessons start right after Labor Day. Call to reserve your spot for the season.

The Battery marks its 30th anniversary!
On March 2nd, The Battery marked its 30th anniversary of training champions. As a small family owned and run business, we are proud to have contributed to make reality the dreams of thousands of young people. We are proud of the Battery students who through the years have signed with Division 1 colleges and universities; proud of those who signed professional contracts , and proud to have a Battery-trained student in the major leagues.
We are proud of the lives we have touched and the friends we have made.
The Tillinghast family - Mrs. T, Fred, Martha, Gracie.and Jenna- thanks Battery friends, alum and present students, business associates, Senator Joe Robach, Monroe County Legislator Steve Tucciarello, Gates Supervisor Mark Assini, and Gates councilwoman Elaine Tette and councilman Frank Allkofer for their presence at our open house.

Alum Featured in The Naples Record
The Naples Record, a weekly newspaper covering the Finger lakes region, featured an article about Line Drive Baseball School, owned and operated by Battery alum Nick Carrier (Bishop Kearney/Brockport) in the town of Hemlock. Nick trained at the Battery tor many years under Coach T and also played in the Battery ABC team managed by Coach.
In the long and very detailed article, Nick credits Coach T and the influence he had on him. "Coach T made me the man I am today. He taught me more than just baseball."
Battery's Owner Joins Women's Council Board
Battery owner Grace Tillinghast (Mrs. T) has joined the Board of Directors of the Women's Council, an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance. Mrs. T been elected to a three-year term.
She is presently the chair of the board of the Rochester Hispanic Business Association and also chairs the board of the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester. She serves in four other community boards and is a Monroe Community College Trustee.
Battery's Courtney Case Signs Letter of Intent
Battery student Courtney Case, a senior shortstop at Pittsford Mendon HS, signed a letter of intent to play softball at Le Moyne College.

Battery Students Sign Letters of Intent
The following six Battery students are signing letters of intent to play softball at the collegiate level :
* Lacey Clark (Victor HS) is signing with Hofstra University of the Colonial Athletic Conference.
* Mackenzie Cleary (Fairport HS) is signing with St. John University of the Big East Conference and joining Battery alum Courtney Budynas who is now a freshman.
*Sam Broking (Fairport HS) is signing with the University at Albany of the America East Conference.
* Desiree Gonzalez (Greece Arcadia HS) is signing with St. Bonaventure of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
* Kiera Lorenzo (Brighton HS) will join Desiree by signing with St. Bonaventure.
* Ali Van Geisen (Auburn HS) is signing with Niagara University of the MAAC Conference and joining Battery alum Desirae Maldonado who is now a sophomore. Ali also took private pitching lessons with Battery coach Courtney Fitzgerald Cardot.
Kudos to all these ladies for their hard work and perseverance. The Battery is very proud of each and every one!
Battery's Andy Parrino Traded to the Oakland A's
It was announced today, November 16, that Andy was traded to the Oakland A's as part of a four-player agreement. Good luck to Andy and to the A's in 2013.
Andy is at The Battery this week working with the students in the softball and baseball academies and giving private lessons by appointment.
Battery's Courtney Case Named PLAYER OF THE YEAR!
Once again,a Battery softball student has been named Player of the Year for All Greater Rochester. Courtney Case, a junior shortstop at Pittsford Mendon, received the 2012 recognition because she dominates at the plate, on base and in the field. Courtney, who trains year round at The Battery, finished the season with a .720 batting average.

Battery Students Named to AGR Softball Team
Ten of the sixteen ladies named to the 2012 All Greater Rochester Softball team train at The Battery; Courtney Case (Pittsford Mendon); Courtney Budynas (Honeoye Falls -Lima); Courtney Clark (Webster Thomas); Mackenzie Cleary (Fairport); Alisssa Dixon (Webster Schroeder); Aidan Falk (Mercy); Lexi Haley (Aquinas); Riley Johnson (Greece Athena), Carly Pike (Batavia Notre Dame) and Jordan Sarat (Caledonia Mumford).
Some thirty other Battery students received honorable mention. Congratulations to all!

Battery Student Receives Sportsmanship Award
Battery student Mikah McDonnell has received the Gary Spear Sportsmanship Award for the 9-10 Minor Little League in Webster. Congratulations for being a good sport, and such a talented young player.

Battery Students Named to Class A Tournament Team
Battery students Nicole Rivera (Mercy), Aidan Flak (Mercy), Katherine Ghyzel (Brighton), Anna Valentine (Mendon), Courtney Case (Mendon), Tess Newell (Mercy) and Katie Brennan (Mendon) were named to the All Tournament Team for Class A. Katie was named tournament Most Valuable Player. Good job, ladies!
Battery Student 'Drives in' a Sectional Title!
Battery student Peyton Wyjad, a freshman at Gananda High School, drove in the winning run for her team, and by doing so, a sectional title for C1 division. Peyton had three hits and scored two runs. Congratulations, Peyton for a job well done!
Battery Student Throws a Perfect Game
Battery pitching student Lexi Haley, a senior at Aquinas, threw a perfect game with twelve strike outs at a sectional game on May 30. It was her second no-hitter this month. Lexi took pitching lessons with Battery instructor Courtney Fitzgerald Cardot and had a wonderful high school career as a pitcher. Congratulations!

The Rochester Press Radio Club honored two Battery alum at their dinner on May 23rd. Andy Parrino received the Elliot Cushing Award for excelling at the national level, and Brittany Grage (Pitttsford Mendon/U of Rochester) received the Knighthawks Female Ahtlete of the Year Award.

Battery's Riley Johnson Signs Letter of Intent with Syracuse
Battery student Riley Johnson, a senior infielder at Greece Athena High School, signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at Syracuse. The six-year varsity starter was recruited by several colleges and universities. Riley is a member of the Battery Lighting Gold Travel Team.
A scholar athlete, she plans to major in communications with a concentration in TV and radio broadcasting.

Battery trained Andy Parrino called to major league
Battery alum and instructor Andy Parrino received the call from the San Diego Padres late on Wednesday, August 24.
Andy becomes the first non-pitcher from the greater Rochester area to make it to the big leagues in the last 65 years.
Although several Battery trained players have made it to the minor leagues, Andy is the first one to make it to the majors.

It is official: Battery Alum is NYS Record Holder!
Although it took a long time to make it into the record books, Battery student Karl Nielsen, then a senior at Spencerport High School, had five hits in one game against Penfield, on May 23, 1993. A wonderful record of a dedicated baseball player which is now part of the history of The Battery and its many students!
