A perfect game is the dream of every pitcher and seldom one can boast of having had one. In fact, in the history of major league baseball, there have been only 19 perfect games. At the high school level, there are many no-hitters and shutouts, but very seldom a perfect game.
Battery student Leighann Pettis, a 7th grader, threw a perfect game for Churchville-Chili JV this past week. A remarkable accomplishment for the young pitcher.
Leighann trains year-round, attending the Winter Softball Academy and taking individual lessons; she is a member of the Rochester Thunder Travel Softball Team.
Congratulations Leighann for making local softball history.
