Catcher David Johnson Heads for Oswego with a Full Scholarship

David Johnson

Battery student David Johnson, a catcher at Churchville Chili High School, will attend Oswego State with a Kodak Scholarship. The company recognizes every year outstanding Native American students who will pursue a career in engineering, chemistry or business.

Dave is the winner of $10,000 a year scholarship, and will major in chemistry. He is an Abenaki, a group of American Indians who have lived for thousands of years in northern New England. He also received Oswego State Presidential Scholarship, and Oswego State Freshman Chemistry Award.
Dave has trained at The Battery for years, and is a catcher for the Battery ABC team.

He batted .450 during his senior year and tied the Churchville-Chili School record for most home runs in a season (six). David was selected to the Monroe All County Team.

"Oswego State offers a perfect combination for me. They have an excellent chemistry program, and I can play baseball, the sport I love," states Dave.

David Johnson is another Battery success story.

2001 season.
