Awards and Recognitions

2015 News

* Battery students Emily DeFilippo (Gates Chili HS) and Steven Hoko (Spencerport) were honored in December for Doing the Right Thing by the Rochester Police Departrment..

* Battery student Grace Van Horn, a sophomore pitcher at Union Springs, was named by ESPN 'Scholar athlete of the Year for Softball".  Congrats!

* Battery student Jackson McDonnell (Webster Thomas) received a $1,000 scholarship from the Do The Right Thing, a program of  the Rochester Police Department. He is headed for the UMass at Amherst in the fall.

* Battery student Ally Uberty, a junior at LeRoy HS, finished the 2015 season with 219 strike outs.  Quite a record! Congrats, Ally!

* Battery student Hannah Anderson, a senior at Caledonia Mumford, has been named "Scholar Athlete of the Week" (week of Jan. 26)

 

2014 News

* Battery student Katie Skolnick (Fairport) signed a letter of intent to play at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.

* Battery student Leighann Pettis, a senior pitcher at Churchville Chili HS, signed a letter of intent to play softball at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

* In October, Battery student Jackson McDonnell, a senior honor student at Webster Thomas HS,  was recognized by the Rochester Police Department for  "Doing the Right Thing". His sister Mikah, also a Battery student, was recognized a couple of years ago. Congratulations to Jackson and the whole McDonnell family!

* Battery student Taylor Haug (Brockport HS) was the News 10 Scholar Athlete of the Week. He carried a 95 GPA and was the captain of the baseball and basketball teams.

* Battery student Leighann Pettis was named Girls Athlete of the Week on May 1st.  Last week, Leighann threw a perfect game.

* Battery student Jes Marini received the "Model Teammate' Award at the Pittsford Sutherland softball banquet, and named team captain for the 2015 season.

 

 

2013 News

 

* Battery student Leighann Pettis, a sophomore at Churchville Chili, was named Section V, Region 3, Player of the Week. She was also named to First Team All County.

* Battery student Sidney McGinn, a sophomore at Hammosport Central was named to Steuben county second team.

*Battery student Lacey Clark, A senior at Victor, was named "Athlete of the Week".

*Battery student Desiree Gonzalez, a senior at Greece Arcadia, was named Athlete  of the Week".

* Battery student Theresa Civiletti, a senior at Brighton, was named Player of the Week, Section V, Region 2.

* Battery student Aidan Falk, a senior at Mercy, was named Athlete of the Week.

* Battery student Nicole Foo, a junior at Brighton, was named Player of the Week, Section V, Division 2

 

2012 News

 

* Battery student Courtney Case, a junior at Pittsford Mendon, was named Player of the Year for  All Greater Rochester.

*Ten Battery students have been namend to the 16-player All Greater Rochester team: Courtney Case (Pittsford Mendon); Courtney Budynas (Honeoye Falls Lima); Courtney Clark (Webster Thomas); Mackenzie Cleary (Fairport); Alissa Dixon (Webster Schroeder); Aidan Falk (Mercy); Lexi Haley (Aquinas); Riley Johnson (Greece Athena); Carly Pike (Batavia Notre Dame) and Jordan Sarat (Caledonia Mumford).

Thirty seven other Battery students received honorable mention,.

*  Battery student Mikah McDonnell received the Gary Spear Sportsmanship Award for the 9-10 Little League in Webster.

* Battery student Nick Ficarella, an freshman at Churchville Chili, won the Most Promising Saint Award.

 * Battery pitching student Lexi Haley, a senior at Aquinas, threw a perfect game for Aquinas on May 30.

* Battery pitching student Callianne Robbins, a junior, threw a perfect game for Geneva.

* Battery student Peyton Wyjad, a freshman at Gananda, drove in the winning run for her team and by doing so, a sectional title for her school.  

* Battery student Carly Pike (Batavia Notre Dame) was named Class D Player of the Year.

* Battery student Jordan Sarat, a senior pitcher at Caledonia Mumford, was named Player of the Year for Livingston County.

 

 

2011 News

 

  • Battery student Brittany Grage, a senior at Pittsford Mendon, was named Player of the Year for All Greater Rochester. 

* Eleven Battery students were named to the 16-player All Greater Rochetesr team: Brittany Grage (Pittsford Mendon); Courtney Case (Pittsford Mendon); Courtney Budynas (Honeoye Fallas Lima); Jenna Clarke (Brockport); Mackenzie Cleary (Fairport); Alissa Dixon (Webster Schroeder); Aidan Falk (Mercy); Lexi Haley (Aquinas); Riley Johnson ( Greece Athena); Morgan Lindauier (Fairport) and Carly Pike Batavia Notre Dame).)

  • Battery student Jimmy Wagner (Hilton) was namded to the All Greater Rochester team
  • .Battery student Hunter Mazur's dad and Battery student Nick Ficarella's uncle will be inducted into the Batavia High School Hall of Fame this October. Brad Mazur played three years of varsity baseball; he was an All Star player during his junior and senior year; he was named the 1991  Player of the Year for Monroe County Division II and was selected Athlete of the Year. He went on to play baseball for four years at Virginia Wesleyan. Quite a role model for his son and nephew!

 

* Battery student Morgan Boyce, a sophomore at Greece Arcadia, set a record hitting 14 doubles for the season.  Elizabeth Maier, a sophomore at Pittsford Sutherland, set the record for most triples with nine.

  • Three Battery students made the Livingston County Division II All Star Team: 8th grader Hannah Anderson, freshman Kelsey McMullen and junior pitcher Jordan Sarat.
  • The following Battery students were named to the 2011 All Tournament Team for Class AA:  Kristen Beikirch (Brockport), Jenna Clark (Brockport), Alissa Dixon (Webster Schroeder), Riley Johnson (Greece Athena), Chelsea Touchstone (Greece Athena) and Sierra Valentine (Greece Athena). Sierra was also namde MVP.
  • Battery student Zack Jackson, a sophomore pitcher at Churchville Chili, received the "2011 Most Promising Saint Award".
  • Battery student KC Mack, a senior at Avon High School, will attend St. Bonaventure where he plans to study business.
  • Battery student Brittany Grage, a senior pitcher at Pittsford Mendon, will attend the University of Rochester. 
  • Battery student Elizabeth Maier, a sophomore at Pittsford Sutherland High School, was featured on the Brighton-Pittsford Post under "Spotlight On" on April 28. Elizabeth mentions the advice given by Battery hitting instructor Fred Tillinghast.
  • Battery student Betsy Clark, a senior pitcher at Bishop Kearney High School, has received a Presidential Scholarship at Alfred. She plans to study glass engineering.
  • Battery student Jake Welch, a senior at Spencerport High School, will attend Jefferson Community College.

The Battery's 33rd Anniversary

On March 2nd, 2016 The Battery celebrated its 33th anniversary of training champions.

As a small family owned and run business, we are proud to contribute to make reality the dreams of thousands of young people.

We are proud of The Battery students who through the years have signed with Division 1 colleges and universities; proud of those who signed professional contracts , and proud to have  a Battery-trained student in the major leagues.

We are proud of the lives we have touched and the friends we have made.
