New York State - Section V High School Report Week 8 - 2017

Battery Students Performance – Week of May 22th

What a season it has been!  Too much rain; too many games cancelled or postponed; too many double headers, several perfect games, a number of no hitters' and a race to get games in before sectionals! And then, a number of upsets.

  • Freshman Sydney Bolton pitched a six-hitter for Webster Schroeder striking out five. Schroeder advances  to class AA semifinals.

  • 8th grader Ashley Covert had an RBI and scored one run for Letchworth.  The team advances to Class C1 semifinals.

  • Pitcher Hannah Rubinrott tossed a five-hit shutout striking out four for Cal Mum.

  • Freshman Emily Phelan threw a no-hitter with seventeen strike outs for Bishop Kearney.  Kearney advances to Class C2 semifinals.

  • Senior Ciera Moroz went 3 for 4, including a triple and scored one run for Canandaigua. .

  • Junior Emily Mongelli had two hits and one RBI for Irondequoit.

  • Senior Olivia Spenard hit a double and had one RBI for SOTA.

  • Infielder Meghan Mielicki went 4 for 4 with four RBI for Cal-Mum.  They advanced to finals.

  • Senior Grace Van Horn pitched a complete game for Union Springs striking out fifteen. US advances in sectionals.

  • Freshman Emily Phelan pitched a two-hitter with fourteen strike outs for Bishop Kearney. Senior catcher Annie Heyen went 3 for 3 with a double. Kearney advances to finals.

  • Senior Grace Van Horn pitched a shutout game for Union Springs. US advances to the finals for first time in school history.

  • Freshman Emily Phelan pitched a whole game striking out nine; she also had two hits.  Senior catcher Annie Heyen also had two hits. Kearney won its first sectional title since 1982.

  • Batavia junior Hunter Manzur was named to Monroe County First Team.

  • Webster Schroeder freshman pitcher Sydney Bolton was named to 2nd Team All County.

The Battery's 33rd Anniversary

On March 2nd, 2016 The Battery celebrated its 33th anniversary of training champions.

As a small family owned and run business, we are proud to contribute to make reality the dreams of thousands of young people.

We are proud of The Battery students who through the years have signed with Division 1 colleges and universities; proud of those who signed professional contracts , and proud to have  a Battery-trained student in the major leagues.

We are proud of the lives we have touched and the friends we have made.
