Karl Nielsen

Karl Nielsen

Karl Nielsen is a transformational product of the Battery.  In 1987, he was involved in a car accident; he was in a coma for two days and many believed he wouldn't play baseball again.  After taking private lessons, attending the summer baseball camp, and the winter baseball academy at the Battery, he made the roster on the junior varsity baseball team at Spencerport High School. Karl continued to train at the Battery and in 1992 became an assistant  working summer camps and winter schools with Coach T and Fred.

Karl was a 3 year varsity starter at Spencerport.  In 1993, he became the first and only Spencerport baseball player to hit his way into New York State record books. He played American Legion Baseball for 4 years for Harsh-Crisp Seaman. He also played 1st and 3rd base for the Battery ABC baseball team. He followed his baseball dream and attended Clemson University where his playing days came to an end.

Karl has been a varsity assistant, junior varsity, and modified baseball coach and  varsity softball.  Currently, coaching and teaching at Greece Arcadia. His education includes master degrees in Educational Administration, Elementary Education, and Liberal Arts from St. John Fisher and Nazareth College.

In 2011, Karl returned to the Battery assisting with baseball and softball winter academies and was featured twice as a finalist in 2012 on Dr. Oz's Transformation Nation: Million Dollar You. Karl was recognized as a role mode, inspiration, and health expert.

He lives in Pittsford  with his children Katherine and David

As a small family owned and run business, we are proud to contribute to make reality the dreams of thousands of young people.

We are proud of The Battery students who through the years have signed with Division 1 colleges and universities; proud of those who signed professional contracts , and proud to have  a Battery-trained student in the major leagues.

We are proud of the lives we have touched and the friends we have made.
